The world of blogging has its own unique culture. I am learning daily about the networking, commenting, sharing, linking and, of course, the writing. After 6 weeks, I have joined numerous groups, commented on some really wonderful blogs and, I think, I am on my way to making some friends!
I started blogging to have a creative outlet, to free myself from 'mommy isolation', and to make connections with other people through my writing. I love my little dates with my computer, away from the kids and the noise. I am finding more and more that blogging isn't so much about what I am writing but it is about the connections I am making with others; new connections, that I would have never had if I hadn't decided to do this.
This week I was very kindly nominated for the "One Lovely Blog Award" by another twin-mama blogger, Danielle at Way Off Script. Thank you Danielle for reading and reaching out to me! Here's the skinny:
“The One Lovely Blog Award nominations are chosen by fellow bloggers for those newer or up-and-coming bloggers. The goal is to help give recognition and to also help the new blogger reach more viewers. It also recognizes blogs that are considered to be “lovely” by the fellow-blogger who chose them. This award acknowledges bloggers who share their story or thoughts in a beautiful manner to connect with their viewers and followers.”
As part of my nomination, I have two tasks;
1 ) Share seven fun facts about myself (or maybe just some things you might not know!)
I love the cold, the snow, and the rain. Minnesota is awesome and I don't mind the winters. Bring it on!
I have too many teeth - like a shark. I have had so many teeth pulled, I lost count. I had 6 wisdom teeth. 'nuf said.
I am a singer. I have been singing as long as I can remember. I went to Belmont University in Nashville, for Music initially and ended up with a French and Mathematics double major instead. God had different plans for my life, clearly! I like to sing Jazz the most because it is so fun, but leading worship is my musical home.
I love sheep and I spent the entire time we lived in the UK (5 years) trying to hug one, without success. I haven't given up yet!
I auditioned for Big Brother (the reality TV show) in the UK, and made it through the first few rounds. I was sent home in the "Yes/No" round, paired with a 6-foot tall transvestite wearing heels and fishnet stockings. I guess I was too much of an outlier for reality TV as an American, happily married, Christian youth worker.
I have no rhythm. I know, I am a musician AND I played percussion in band, but I have the hardest time keeping a beat. Maybe that is why I like jazz—the freedom!
I wrote my own cookbook a few years back called "YUM". I wrote all the recipes, took all the photos, and made it on Shutterfly. I am a really good cook, but you have to be friends or family if you really want to experience what I can do!
2 ) to show some love and nominate up to fifteen of my favorite blogs, making sure to post your nomination on their blog for all to see.
I am new to this whole thing—so my list is short, which means you will have time to check out ALL of these. I have linked the names to my favorite posts so you can see what I think is so great about each of them. Thanks for reading, friends, and lets share the love!
